Calendar of Events

The Cupola House is a central part of visitor activity with daily tours arranged through the Edenton Visitor Center. For information, call (252) 482-2637 or email: edenton@ncmail.net.

The Cupola House Gardens are open from 9:00 am until 4:30 pm daily. We encourage you to stroll through the gardens when visiting our downtown shops. It provides a quiet respite and a step into one of America’s premier Colonial Gardens.

Historic Edenton Candlelight Tour, sponsored by Edenton Historical Commission
December 12 and 13, 2008    4-8 pm

  • Visit Historic Edenton's magnificent collection of 18th, 19th and early 20th Century homes. Each tour home is proudly decorated to celebrate the Christmas Season. Homes participating in the tour are changed annually.

  • The day's festivities include events encompassing many of Edenton’s famous historic sites. One of the most enjoyable, hosted by the Cupola House, is a traditional "Wassail Bowl" gathering. Silver punch bowl and tastefully-designed natural decor in this historic setting will delight all who attend.

  • "Caroling on the Green" in front of the courthouse at the city's center. Do not miss this inspiring event held Friday, December 12, at 6 pm.

  • Carriage rides

  • Edenton's Christmas Parade is 10 am Saturday, December 13.

  • The Iredell House features its famous "Groaning Board" filled with holiday desserts. Be sure to come in to enjoy the Christmas decorations, beautiful music, and fellowship.

Historic Edenton Pilgrimage, a biannual tour of homes and countryside, sponsored by Edenton Woman’s Club
April 24 and 25, 2009

  • Tour Edenton's unique and lovely homes ranging from countryside homes, plantations, noteworthy public buildings and churches, such as the Barker House, Cupola House, Chowan County 1767 Courthouse, James Iredell House, Chowan Arts Council, Edenton Visitor Center, and St. Paul's Episcopal Church.

  • Each year different homes are featured.

  • Tour includes each tour home's private gardens, as well as the famous Cupola House Colonial Garden. Guides will explain the various flowers, herbs, and plants blooming at the time.

There are many events which occur at the Cupola House and being a member of the Association will keep you well informed as to upcoming events of interest.
